Students Who Serve: Sam Dardzinski
Through years of volunteer experience, Sam Dardzinski 鈥�22 gained many skills when it comes to dealing with people.
鈥淭he most important thing to remember is that everyone is unique, and it鈥檚 best to always listen and learn before you speak or judge,鈥� said Dardzinski, a double major in neuroscience and exercise science.
Dardzinski participated in the annual Lebanon County homeless count, a topic he hopes becomes a more public issue in the community and our college. The project led him to work with Jen Liedtka 鈥�92, M鈥�00, LVC鈥檚 service and volunteerism coordinator, to create an interactive program called Book Buddies. Every two weeks, the program engages children who live in area shelters through different stations filled with games, books, puzzles, and colored pencils.
Along with his interest in volunteering, Dardzinski enjoys traveling to new places. He combined the two last spring during LVC鈥檚 service trip to Peru, teaching English while residing in the remote village of Misminay for a little over a week. The experience taught him culture, perspective, and even the native language of Quechua.
Dardzinski enjoys giving back through his service and invites the local community to contribute supplies and toys for the Book Buddies program.
