The goal of this weeklong study abroad program is for students to expand the “encounter” with religion in the classroom. This program is available to students enrolled in REL 140 Encountering World Religions in the spring of 2027.

London is the capital and largest city of England and the United Kingdom. As one of the world’s major global cities, London exerts a strong influence on world art, culture, cinema, finance, education, technology, and more. London’s diverse cultures encompass over 300 languages, giving students the opportunity to encounter the religious and cultural diversity of a major foreign urban center.

Program Details

Program costs for spring break 2027 are estimates at this point, because some arrangements depend on the number of participants. The estimated cost of $2,550 includes:

  • Tuition (one credit)
  • Housing
  • Excursions
  • Meals
  • Flights
  • Transportation

Personal expenses are not included in the program cost.

Study abroad grant funding is available based on eligibility. In addition, this program may be eligible for limited financial aid. Please read the 2026–27 Summer Financial Aid Application instructions on the Financial Aid website for additional information and submit an application to the Financial Aid Office.

February 27–March 7, 2027

Application deadline: October 15

  • A $300 program fee is due to LVC by October 15 (non-refundable after October 15).

Students will earn a total of one credit and fulfill one Immersive Experience (IME) requirement through this weeklong program. Students will stay in London, UK and visit museums, historical sites, and religious organizations in order to expand the “encounter” with religion in the classroom. The primary purpose of the class is to give students the opportunity to encounter the religious diversity of a major foreign urban center.

Prerequisites:

Must be enrolled in REL 140 Encountering World Religions in the Spring 2027 term and in good social and academic standing (2.5 GPA) to apply.
